Jaw Aesthetics
For a facial appearance to be aesthetically pleasing, all features must harmonize with each other. Particularly, there should be a balanced appearance between the nose and the chin. Excessive protrusion or retrusion of the chin, especially when viewed from the profile, can alter the perception of the nose from an external perspective. This perceptual change persists even if an ideal nose aesthetic is achieved. Surgical intervention applied to the chin area for those with facial features lacking this balance is referred to as jaw aesthetics. When the chin is retruded, it can make the nose appear larger, while an advanced chin can also lead to orthodontic problems.
It is not always necessary to perform a surgical intervention on the chin structure that is behind the nose root, base, and chin line. In such cases, a simple filler application to the chin can be done to bring it forward. This filler, which lasts for 18 months, needs to be repeated at certain intervals.
Surgical interventions, on the other hand, involve placing implants compatible with the tissues into the chin, allowing for clearer and more permanent results.
Chin implant applications have an extremely low side effect profile, can be easily applied during a nose aesthetic surgery, and have a fast recovery period. If not satisfied, this application can be easily reversed.
